This heavyweight cotton Henley neck shirt from the 1930s, discovered in New York, was notable for its construction, differing from the typical base-layer garments of its time.
It is designed without shoulder seams, with sleeves attached in straight lines and underarm gussets added to support ease of movement. Side seams were incorporated, likely reflecting the challenge of using tubular knitting for such a dense fabric.
