During the prosperous 1950s, the use of zippers became widely popular across various items. Fleece fabrics made by hanging knitting machines around that time was sturdy but lacked elasticity, requiring gussets on the front side or both front and back for reinforcement. As the elasticity problem improved, zippers were adopted respectively in designs with collars and hoods. The collar featured in this item is efficiently made of a single piece instead of double- layered construction of a regular shirt to achieve a natural worn look after washing. The fabric features a mixed top-dyed cotton to highlight the m_lange texture. The zipper pull tab with streaky Art D_co engravings popular in the 1920s, is also custom-made.
