The bottleneck pullover is based on the American Red Cross knit from the 1940s. The sweater is a reconstruction of vintage clothing, which incorporates the combination of half cardigan and zigzag pattern and collar specifications of the original. We made unique adjustments to the overall silhouette including armholes and sleeves and further added elbow patches often found in vintage items. Resources were scarce in the old days, so everything, including clothing, was treated with great care. Leather or leftover fabric patches found on worn- down elbows of vintage items are a reminder of that era.
The item uses undyed yarns of Tasmanian wool, internationally recognized as having the highest quality of any wool for its fine, soft, and supple texture. The undyed yarns retain the natural, gentle color of the original wool.
