The entrance of T.T Gion Store is paved with Aji stone mined in Kagawa Prefecture. Recorded history of Aji stone, one of the world's finest granites, can go back to the reconstruction of Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine around the 14th century. To capture the stone's time in our clothing, we used frottage technique to transfer its unique surface pattern onto a katuragi (twill) fabric.
The item is based on a coverall jacket of the 1940s unearthed from Taiga Takahashi's archival collection. Originating from blue-collar's workwear, coveralls often have complicated details like inner pockets and pen holders in the chest pockets. The 1940s coverall jacket we reconstructed, however, has a quite simplified design, suggesting it was produced in the resource-scarce era around the World War II. We ensure that the linear silhouette is preserved with meticulous stitchwork to replicate the atmosphere of the coarse tailoring of the time. Comfortably thick and textured katuragi (twill) fabric is used. The use of straight yarn without any unevenness results in a clean, defined twill pattern. The buttons and backside parts marked with original engravings are all made of iron, which is uncoated to produce aged beauty over time.
Model: 186cm size40
Our products are dyed with natural dyes, so there may be uneven dyeing, but it is a characteristic of the product. Please note that the color may fall or migrate when exposed to sunlight, friction, or wetting with water for a long period of time. Please avoid layering with white or light-colored items. The iron accessories used for tack buttons, rivets, buckles, etc. are faithfully reproduced in the details of old times, and since the materials have not been faithfully processed to prevent rust etc, Therefore, there is a possibility that the accessories may rust or become dangerous (sharp pin tips) when used.
