Choose options
The Jacket originates from an unbranded American coverall from the 1910 discovered in a coal mine. Taiga Takahashi's coverall jacket is a fruit of our fascination for a vintage jacket added to Takahashi's collection after over a century. 1920s was the time when mass production and consumption began in the US. In the wave of massive transformation in industries triggered by the American capitalism, manufacturing departed from the tradition of craftsmanship characterized by meticulous attention to each work and shifted to a system enabling mass production requiring no skills. Workwear worn by laborers, the supporter of economy at the bottom of the hierarchy, are eloquent witnesses of the era. All design elements, from simplified linear sewing and flat patterns to resilient fabric and practical pocket shapes, are specifically purposed for durability. What we call "design" today is virtually nonexistent. This jacket, in particular, is more like a tool than a garment. While inheriting the original specifications, we took the fabric texture into account and reconstructed it with added shoulder slopes to improve the underarm fit. Our original fabric is made of slub, 100% American cotton (COTTON USA) woven on an old-type power loom. The snap buttons are customized to our original size and finished with matte coating mixed with ink.
Our products are dyed with natural dyes, so there may be uneven dyeing, but it is a characteristic of the product. Please note that the color may fall or migrate when exposed to sunlight, friction, or wetting with water for a long period of time. Please avoid layering with white or light-colored items. The iron accessories used for tack buttons, rivets, buckles, etc. are faithfully reproduced in the details of old times, and since the materials have not been faithfully processed to prevent rust etc, Therefore, there is a possibility that the accessories may rust or become dangerous (sharp pin tips) when used. We cannot be held responsible for any accidents or damages caused by the use of this product, so please check the product thoroughly and make sure you understand the product. About Size and Dimensions Even for the same item, there may be individual differences of 1 to 2 cm due to the production and processing process. Tucks and gathers are measured by placing the garment naturally without spreading it out and adjusting the shape of the product.
