The work trousers are based on an 19th-century pair of work pants unearthed in California.
They feature a high rise and a wide silhouette that extends generously from the thighs to the hem.
The item features military moleskin, a thick fabric with a refined luster and a slightly brushed surface, true to its name—resembling a mole’s skin. Its excellent durability made it a popular fabric for work jackets worn by French coal miners from the 1800s through the 1950s.
To replicate the dry touch and subtle fuzz characteristic of vintage textiles, deliberately coarse yarns are used. The fabric is pre-treated with mercerization, achieving a balance of elegant sheen and rugged texture.
A garment-dye process is applied, with the trousers dyed in their finished state. This creates natural tonal variations along seams and across the surface of the fabric, resulting in depth of expression despite the solid color.
With repeated wear and washing, the color and texture continue to evolve, allowing the wearer to appreciate both the inherent functionality of work pants and a presence that is completed over time.
Custom-engraved buttons and back hardware are made of iron. By intentionally leaving them unplated, they develop rust over time, offering the pleasure of natural aging and patina.
