The band collar shirt is based on a dress shirt from the 1910s found in New York.
In that era, white shirts—plain white dress shirts—were regarded as the epitome of elegance, and owning a certain number of them signified wealth and social status.

For those who possessed only the minimum necessity, detachable collars were introduced, allowing white shirts to be worn daily simply by changing and washing the collars.

The construction of this shirt is highly distinctive for the 1910s, a period when three-dimensional patternmaking was predominant. It features a shoulder line without slope and tightly set armholes with sleeves attached straight down. The pattern is composed of more straight lines than one might expect.

These linear elements, along with the concept of a band collar left in a “missing” state, are directly incorporated into the design.

The fabric is a blended weave of lyocell and cotton, finished with a bio-fibrillation brushing process to achieve a matte, timeworn appearance reminiscent of vintage garments. This treatment lends the shirt a refined presence with the quiet elegance of a well-aged piece.
