CASHMERE STOLE

A stole made from Hanshan cashmere yarn, one of the four major cashmere-producing regions in Inner Mongolia. The designer personally traveled to Inner Mongolia, retracing the entire process from raw material sourcing to finished product, and worked closely with a local spinning mill to select the raw materials and oversee the construction of the final piece. The yarn is treated with a special process to create a distinctive natural expression, lightness, and softness. Woven slowly on vintage power looms to preserve the inherent texture of the fabric. The selvedge—an identifying feature of old-style power looms—is left intact and used at both side of the stole. Undyed, showcasing the natural color of the cashmere goat.
