LOT.807 JERKIN VEST

The vest reimagined the British Indian Army jerkin vest from the 1940s-1950s.

Jerkin vests are simple leather vests designed in the early 20th Century for soldiers to be worn over outerwear for warmth. The original, single-layer vest features replaceable buttons unusual for this type of clothing and lacked the typical wool lining. T.T has adjusted the size and silhouette to present a vest that can be comfortably worn over sweatshirts or shirts. The item uses vegetable-tanned leather made from horsehide, using a tanning technique called pit-tanning. In the method, hides are soaked for a long time in a pit filled with vegetable resin tannin. As it requires a lot of time and effort _ the soaking phase takes about a month _ only a few companies practice this method in Japan.
