LOT.806 C.1950'S SINGLE LEATHER JACKET

1950s was when leather jackets, inspired by military flight jackets, were popular.

Based on the heavy vintage leather jacket featuring sheepskin liners for cold weather, the jacket retains a heavy feel while being reduced in weight. All classical but practical details omitted in today's designs are faithfully reproduced, including flaps with hidden dot-button, hand-warmer pockets, reinforced leather parts on the sleeve cuffs, and a U-shaped stopper zipper characteristic of the 1950s. The item uses vegetable-tanned leather made from horsehide, using a tanning technique called pit-tanning. In the method, hides are soaked for a long time in a pit filled with vegetable resin tannin. As it requires a lot of time and effort _ the soaking phase takes about a month _ only a few companies practice this method in Japan.
