LOT.718 MODIFIED U.S. ARMY M-35 DENIM PULLOVER

The CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) denim pullover traces its origin to the brown denim jumper adopted by the U.S. Army in 1908. While it is believed that both brown canvas and indigo denim were produced in parallel at the time, this particular design was officially registered in 1919 as “SPEC6-125.”

The pullover style was often met with dissatisfaction, especially among younger wearers who found it inconvenient to put on and take off. Some even went so far as to tear the front or customize it into a front-opening style. This piece reflects such sensibilities of the era and remains a compelling example of utilitarian adaptation.

The fabric is a newly developed original 9oz denim, created through analysis of vintage denim from the era. It features green-cast indigo-dyed warp yarns conceived by Taiga Takahashi himself, combined with undyed, natural-toned weft yarns. While preserving the vintage color tone, the yarn count and density were carefully adjusted, resulting in a rich texture distinct from standard left-hand twill denim, thanks to its 1/2 right-hand twill weave.
